November 27, 2005: "Evensong - Beginning Together Show and Tell" - The Evensong series offers participants the opportunity to explore individual life journeys through sharing thoughts, experiences, doubts and current beliefs. Congregation members brought objects, books, photos, and mementos to speak of to the rest of us. Presented by April Hill.

November 20, 2005: “Thomas Starr King” - Universalist and Unitarian minister, lecturer and orator who helped keep
California within the Union during the Civil War. Presentation by David Hodges.

November 13, 2005: "In Praise of Sleep - Hanging Out with the Inner Self" by Richard S. Gilbert, Parish Minister First Unitarian Church of Rochester, New York. Presented by Don Chapin.

November 6, 2005:             "United Nations Sunday"
Achieving Goals for Our World Community: Unitarian Universalism and the United Nations Millennium Development Goals
presented by Harold Wood.

October 30, 2005:            Samhain (meaning “Summers End”), the Celtic pagan religious ritual.

October 24, 2005:            The Krishna Path: Divine Love. There will be a musical performance and Indian cuisine.

October 16, 2005:            The Meaning of Ramadan, Islamic Holy Days

October 9, 2005:            The Meaning of Yom Kippur, Jewish Holy Days, presented by Mike Sheltzer.

October 2, 2005:            Debbie Wing will present “Engaging our Theological Diversity, Part I”  The presentation is based on the independent review conducted by the Commission on Appraisal which was presented to the UUA at the last General Assembly.

September 25, 2005:      Nature and the Universe as a Spiritual Path by Dr. Paul Harrison [off-site link]. Introducing the Pantheist approach to spirituality.

September 18, 2005:  “Evensong:  Beginning Together”  A whole service singing hymns!

September 11, 2005:  “Religious Language – The Language of Reverence” and "Water Communion" - our annual re-grouping from summer vacations, congregants bring water from their travels.

September 4, 2005:  “Spiritual Journeys” - Congregants shared their own spiritual journeys with each other.

August 21, 2005 - World Cafe on Religious education. facilitated by Marilyn Geise. Small and large group discussion developing a vision of a religious education program both both children and adults specifically tailored for the Visalia Fellowship. 

August 14, 2005 - Strategic planning – Using the "Six Thinking Hats" method to explore our congregation's goals and plans for the coming year.

July 24, 2005 -  "Old Fashioned Sing-Along and Ice Cream Social!

July 17, 2005 - "A Time to Share." Congregants brought favorite poems, readings, quotations, and passages to share with others.

July 10, 2005 - Discussion on "Global Warming and Other Environmental Concerns" including the UU Ministry for Earth and the California Interfaith Power and Light.

July 3rd, 2005 - "The Many Faces of the Sun".  The Sun is the ultimate source of light and life on Earth, an ultimate source of mystery and wonder for people everywhere. Our sense of wonder is enhanced by the scientific knowledge we have gained about the Sun. This  presentation celebtades the importance of the Sun"s interactions with our Earth, and features of the Sun that have been revealed to us in x-ray, ultraviolet, and visible  light, including magnetic field loops, coronal holes, solar flares, and prominences. Presented by Janet Wood,  JPL/NASA Solar System Ambassador.

May 8, 2005        Rev. Michael Dowd and his wife Connie Barlow were our special guests.  Their topic was "The Epic of Evolution: Bridging Diversity, Inspiring Creativity, Empowering Great Work."

April 24, 2005   -         "Living Buddha, Living Christ - Sacred Connections Across Faith Traditions" by Telos Whitfield from Star King UU Seminary.

April 17, 2005  -          The Comforting Whirlwind: God and the Environmental Crisis by Bill McKibben

April 10th, 2005 -           Special early viewing of "Oil on Ice". This hour-long DVD depicts the battle over oil development within the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.  Regular serviced followed, with an excerpt and summary of the film, discussion and a brief "What You Can Do."

April 3rd, 2005  -          Presentation by Kim Loeb of South Valley Peace Center on the "Eyes Wide Open" exhibit on the Iraqi war casualties and current issues being addressed by local peace groups.
